Since I started learning web development my life become more thrilling, rewarding and empowering than ever could I have imagined.

Here is a list of some of the reasons why I want to become a developer and this will be an ongoing  living list because as more as I learn to code, the more reason I find on why I want to become a developer.

  • You are constantly teaching yourself & Learning to learn:  This is a “must” have if you want to be a developer.  Technology is always in constant development (changes)  so if you want to keep up with taking advantage of new tools/languages/systems, etc, you have to  learn and teach yourself how to filter them out and choose which one to learn and do so.
  •  Work with powerful technologies and build amazing features that have the potential to affect thousands of people (my goal is to impact the world through education and/or communication, I would like in some point of my life to help allowing anyone in the world to have access to higher education not matter their personal economic situation – My personal living experience) and through that alleviate poverty.
  • Solving Problems:  Before learning to code, I heard someone telling how software development is about solving problems and its now that I totally understand that statement.  Software development is 110% about solving problems.  It doesn’t matter what language you are using, its all about solving challenges, solving problems and finding ways how make things to work in an efficient way. Ex. If you have an idea, its not about building it, its about mapping it in how you are going to build it and that involves problem solving techniques.
  • Being able to create cool open source projects that are intellectually challenging and benefit the world’s community
  • Dealing with People: Unless you can effectively deal with other developers, managers, customers, you will constantly face trouble despite how good your ideas are or how valuable your skills are. Ex. I heard that when you pair up with someone, you learn much faster than if you try to just do all by yourself.
  • Feel more prepared than ever to be a founder.
  • Have the opportunity to  always working on a side project or participating in a hackathons
  • Being part of the amazing developer-entrepreneurial culture
  • Represent and inspire other hispanic women programmers
